What You'll Be Doing
Identify, develop, and assist in closing high‑quality asset‑based lending transactions for CIBC US Asset‑Based Lending. Develop CIBC’s presence by leveraging commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, and commercial real‑estate product offerings. Build relationships with third‑party financial intermediaries, advisors, referral sources, and direct prospects, targeting middle‑market, entrepreneur‑led or privately‑held companies, publicly‑traded customers, and financially‑sponsored businesses with financing needs generally in the $10MM to $75MM range.
Responsibilities- Prospect and acquire new ABL clients; generate new business through quality leads and regular prospect visits.
- Engage clients as the primary point of contact to assess needs and deliver appropriate products and services.
- Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting in the Client Relationship Management system.
- Bolster market presence within the community and industry associations to promote CIBC and cultivate prospects and referral sources.
- Participate in fit assessment discussions and assist in structuring deals to bridge client expectations and bank requirements.
- Act as a strategic advisor to clients as needed and maintain profitable centers of influence.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and underwriting teams to ensure delivery of top‑notch client service and guide credit events.
- Provide guidance during deal negotiation and assist with front‑end term discussions.
- Excellent business development and prospecting skills in a BDM role.
- Strong understanding of the asset‑based lending industry, market structures, and competitive landscape.
- Extensive referral source network and proven track record of consistent calling efforts.
- Self‑starter able to work independently, including home‑based work, with excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Capability to manage a territory that may require extensive travel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online prospecting tools such as Rel Pro, Salesforce, Pitchbook, and Loan Connector.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Minimum 10 years’ asset‑based lending experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ successful experience as a business development officer for a commercial or ABL lender, focused on quality centers of influence.
- In‑depth knowledge of the asset‑based lending industry, market structures, and competition.
- Deep referral source network with a consistent calling record.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with online prospecting tools.
- Self‑starter with excellent communication abilities and a strong work ethic.
Expected base salary range of $ – $ for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location. Eligible for incentive compensation and discretionary bonus.
