We are seeking a Pharmacy Sales Consultant (PSC) to serve as an individual contributor sales professional responsible for selling a portfolio of products and services into community pharmacies across an assigned geographic territory. The PSC is a highly consultative role that leads all interactions with pharmacists in charge and/or owners, positioning McKesson as a trusted partner while retaining independently owned and Alternate Site pharmacies through a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve annual budget objectives for the assigned sales territory.
- Build a comprehensive business plan to optimize short‑ and long‑term territory performance.
- Lead the consultative sales process from qualification to contract negotiations for all opportunities.
- Build a robust opportunity funnel through organic (cold calling) and coordinated efforts.
- Provide customers with marketing advice, financial analysis, managed‑care information, competitive data and profit‑enhancing opportunities.
- Develop sales proposals, business reviews, sales presentations, product demonstrations, merchandising plans and sales promotions to grow existing business or capture new accounts.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers to build/maintain credibility and retain business long term.
- Provide problem‑solving and troubleshooting expertise to customers in servicing existing accounts through collaboration with other departments.
- Participate in sales team presentations to enhance business growth opportunities, improve selling skills and expand customer knowledge.
- Maintain current, detailed, accurate data in CRM, providing accurate real‑time sales forecasts.
- Execute special projects as assigned.
- Degree or equivalent; typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in sales, marketing, business management or a related healthcare field (preferred).
- Primary territory:
Central New York, covering western Massachusetts, upstate New York (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse & Albany). - Minimum 4+ years’ sales experience, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- At least 2+ years of Medical and/or Pharmacy experience.
- At least 4+ years of B2B field sales experience.
- Proficiency with a CRM tool (e.g., Salesforce, ACT) and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Consultative sales approach to identify customer needs.
- Excellent analysis, problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration, facilitating trust and open communication.
- Articulates the organization’s value proposition to customers effectively.
- Strong business and financial acumen; effective communicator who customizes messages for different audiences.
- Organized, accountable, assertive and results‑focused.
- Remote/Home Office work environment; must reside in the designated territory.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record/MVR.
- Extensive overnight travel (approximately 70% of the time) by air and car within the region.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship; the position is not eligible for sponsorship.
