Position: Specialty Business Manager - IBD (Worcester, MA)

Overview

The Specialty Business Manager – Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is responsible for driving demand for the assigned product by reinforcing the product brand and Takeda’s value within targeted physician offices, key clinics, and hospital accounts specializing in IBD. The role requires developing and applying business processes that achieve sales goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Support account onboarding, including education and procedures.
  • Engage in clinical selling activities, delivering the clinical value proposition and advancing customers across a brand belief continuum.
  • Provide initial clinical educational support and in-service for medical staff (infusion procedures, etc.).
  • Coordinate and support clinical education opportunities and programs for HCPs, such as peer‑to‑peer discussions.
  • Conduct account management activities within GI practices, clinics, outlets, and independent physician offices.
  • Achieve sales goals through specialty product volume and other key metrics in the assigned territory.
  • Execute franchise and company brand strategy and tactics within the assigned customer segment.
  • Establish professional relationships with health‑care providers, decision makers, support staff, and influencers.
  • Develop and deliver a targeted sales message based on accurate clinical information, utilizing approved marketing materials and medical reprints.
  • Leverage local marketing strategies, coordinate resources, and collaborate with team members to enhance business results.
  • Build customer engagement by identifying and cultivating relationships with key decision makers at the local level.
  • Present complex clinical and business information on Takeda’s specialty products and services to gastroenterologists, HCPs, and stakeholder groups.
  • Develop and implement medical education opportunities and sponsor programs to expand knowledge among healthcare professionals.
  • Continuously study disease states, treatments, and the evolving business environment.
  • Strategically manage allocated resources, including financial, markets, medical affairs, and home office support.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a related field.
  • 3+ years successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or relevant clinical/industry experience (5years preferred).
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills with the ability to identify unique selling opportunities and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and success working in teams.
  • Proficient verbal, influencing, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of managed‑care landscape and its impact on business.
  • Residency within or close proximity to the assigned geography.
  • Preferred: experience with injectable/infused IBD products, managing complex reimbursement issues, biological product launches.
  • Preferred: experience calling on gastroenterologists, discussing therapeutic strategies to influence decision makers.
  • Preferred: experience developing and applying clinical and business expertise, executing local marketing strategies.
  • Preferred: minimum of 5years direct selling experience to healthcare professionals in pharma, biotech, device, or health‑care industry.
Training Requirements
  • Mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations.
  • During training, employee is non‑exempt, eligible for overtime, and not eligible for sales incentive programs.
  • Training period: live instruction, independent study, role play, and other activities totaling no more than 8hours per day and 40hours per work week.
  • Upon successful completion, employee transitions to exempt status, no longer eligible for overtime, paid bi‑weekly, and eligible for incentive programs.
Licenses / Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to drive and/or fly to meetings and client sites.
  • Some overnight travel required (25‑50%).
