Overview
Brunswick, a global marine leader, seeks a Business Development Manager Lead to drive regional growth and manage dealer acquisition, development, and retention in the Carolinas and Florida. Remote work with 60% travel is required.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coach Business Development Managers (BDMs) in‑market to achieve revenue, margin, and market share objectives.
- Maintain a strong field presence with dealers and OEM partners across the southeastern United States to influence performance, resolve issues, and identify growth opportunities.
- Develop and execute growth strategies for Mercury products, supporting field execution alongside BDMs and dealer partners.
- Oversee onboarding, training, and performance management of BDMs to ensure readiness in managing dealer relationships.
- Partner with the Mercury OEM team and category management to share dealer conquest and growth responsibilities.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to evaluate market needs, trends, and report findings to upper management.
- Resolve sales conflicts among Mercury, dealers, and OEMs through direct engagement.
- Represent Mercury at national and regional shows, promoting products and generating sales opportunities.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing field sales talent, building a cohesive team.
- Act as a cross‑functional bridge among sales, service, and marketing to resolve customer issues and ensure consistent communication to the dealer network.
- Manage day‑to‑day activities of assigned BDMs, ensuring strong field execution and accountability to regional goals.
- Maintain regular engagement with dealers and OEM partners, driving performance and resolving issues in real time.
- Lead onboarding and ongoing training of BDMs.
- Assess BDM performance and develop coaching plans aligned to regional needs.
- Evaluate market needs and report on competitive products, programs, and dynamics.
- Develop mandatory field presence, consistent communication, and partnership with key dealers.
- Collaborate on product launches and support successful execution of new product introductions.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- 5–10 years of experience working with a dealer organization or equivalent.
- Track record of exceptional sales performance and a demonstrated ability to discover business opportunities.
- Documented success within the marine or power sports industry and knowledge of a marine dealer or related organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage Mercury and dealer networks.
- Excellent organizational skills and high business acumen.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and work with diverse personalities while maintaining professionalism.
- Persuasive skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of sales, advertising law, policy administration, and budgeting.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft applications and adaptability to job‑specific systems.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Must reside within designated dealer territory in the Carolinas or Florida.
- Experience with Mercury & related products.
- Basic marine technical and product knowledge.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Solid presentation skills and willingness to take responsibility and get the job done under any circumstance.
Pay range: $118,400 – $174,000 annually (base salary varies based on qualifications and business context). Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
