Position: Account Manager, Nephrology (Rare Disease)-Dallas, TX

Overview

Specialty Account Manager – Live. In this vital role you will represent Amgen products to physicians and healthcare professionals, establish product sales, and perform total territory account management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide disease information and education to medical professionals and external customers involved in patient care.
  • Consistently achieve assigned sales objectives through patient‑centered disease and product education.
  • Implement marketing plan goals by executing a strategic account business plan.
  • Demonstrate experience working in a matrix environment, collaborating with Case Managers, Medical Affairs, Patient Access teams, and other partners.
  • Utilize all available resources and programs, including peer‑to‑peer education and cross‑functional partners, to address identified knowledge gaps.
  • Navigate and identify opportunities in the healthcare landscape, including academic institutions, IDNs, accountable care organizations, private practices, and community hospital systems.
  • Establish productive relationships with key local, regional, and national KOLs within the geographical coverage area and assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Develop and maintain a high‑level, in‑depth disease and therapeutic clinical and scientific knowledge.
  • Employ a consultative selling approach with a highly technical, solution‑oriented technique to meet healthcare professional needs for rare disease patients.
  • Execute all above responsibilities with strong understanding and adherence to compliance and corporate policies, including appropriate documentation and reporting.
  • Travel approximately 20‑30% of the time, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.
Basic Qualifications (Account Manager Level
4)
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of sales experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry or hospital sales experience.
Basic Qualifications (Specialty Account Manager Level
5)
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of collective account management, sales, and commercial experience.
  • Master's degree and 6 years of collective account management, sales, and commercial experience.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of collective account management, sales, and commercial experience.
  • Associate degree and 10 years of collective account management, sales, and commercial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred;
    Graduate business or healthcare‑related degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in biotech, specialty pharmaceutical, or rare disease sales.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more:
    Rare disease/orphan drug experience; ultra‑orphan preferred;
    Rare disease launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Market development / deep profiling in rare, unmet spaces experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success educating HCPs about complex diseases diagnosed through clinical observation involving diverse patient profiles that do not always lend themselves to simple segmentation diagnosis.
  • Documented track record of delivering consistent, exceptional levels of performance.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, highly challenging work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional, proactive demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Nephrology Experience Preferred
  • At least 3 years of in‑office injection/infusion sales selling a product that requires extensive coordination with patient access services.
  • Previous experience operating in a matrix selling environment collaborating with patient services, market access, medical affairs, and reimbursement with significant focus on patient centricity.
