Accountabilities

The Senior Business Development Director will lead commercial growth initiatives by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding relationships across the healthcare and life sciences sectors. The role involves:

  • Prospecting, developing, and closing new business opportunities with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology organizations, medical device companies, and clinical research organizations.
  • Managing and growing strategic customer accounts while strengthening long-term client relationships.
  • Building trusted partnerships with clients, industry stakeholders, distributors, and key opinion leaders.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Representing the organization at conferences, industry events, networking opportunities, and client meetings.
  • Identifying market trends, customer needs, and business opportunities to support commercial strategy.
  • Acting as a strategic advisor by providing industry insights and recommending improvements to products, services, and processes.
  • Supporting leadership teams in achieving commercial objectives and expanding market presence.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to align business development strategies with customer expectations and organizational goals.
  • Contributing to the growth of patient recruitment initiatives that support faster access to clinical studies and healthcare innovation.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced business development professional with a strong background in healthcare, life sciences, and strategic sales. Candidates should bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of sales and business development experience with responsibility for achieving revenue and commercial targets.
  • Proven experience working with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology organizations, CROs, medical technology companies, or the broader life sciences industry.
  • Strong understanding of international commercial markets, including communications, demand generation, and product marketing strategies.
  • Experience supporting or leading large-scale patient recruitment campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in developing strategic client relationships and driving sustainable business growth.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to understand complex customer challenges and translate them into effective business solutions.
  • Strategic, self-motivated, and customer-focused mindset with the ability to build long-term partnerships.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, or developing commercial and marketing teams is a plus.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
