We're looking for the first person to build StateWideGuide in Charleston — not fill a role, build a territory from the ground up.
StateWideGuide is a new local business guide — built by a real person, not an algorithm. Someone has to be first in Charleston, and we're looking for the right person to grow that here.
This is an independent contractor position, not an employee role. You set your own hours, work independently, and are paid entirely by commission — not a guaranteed wage or salary. Earnings depend entirely on your own effort and are not guaranteed.
What you'd be doing:
- Visiting local Charleston businesses — cafés, shops, services, anything worth knowing about
- Taking real photos and writing a short feature on each one (onboarding materials provided)
- Selling across our full offer: featured listings, category sponsorships, and event sponsorships — every business already has a free listing, so you're selling the upgrade, not starting from nothing
- Covering local events too — getting them listed and sponsored on our events calendar
- Being the first face of StateWideGuide in Charleston — full territory, ground floor, nobody ahead of you
Why Charleston, why now: Charleston recently ranked #1 nationally in an independent study of small-business survival and formation — a genuinely strong market to build in.
What we're looking for: someone who wants to build something, not just clock hours. Comfortable meeting local business owners face to face. Self-motivated — this is commission-only, so it only works if you're driven by more than a paycheck. A background in local sales, real estate, or advertising is a plus, but not required.
