This is a development position designed to prepare an individual possessing attributes supporting a sales dynamic to advance into a Sales Representative position. The primary function of this position is to gain industry, product and service knowledge while learning the various skills needed to be promoted to a Sales Representative. The Sales Trainee must understand how to use interpersonal skills to build long-term internal and external relationships.
Upon completing the training period, this individual may be responsible for sales and margin performance within a defined territory. This position will require travel in Michigan.
- Learn and master the sales process and understand the products and services offered.
- Learn sales administration by participating in sales office functions
- Build and maintain relationships with potential clients
- Conduct market research and develop sales strategies; gather and analyze information to build knowledge base and identify trends for assigned territory/product
- Observe the sales process by calling on accounts; adhere to established sales steps
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational improvement opportunities; read sales and marketing publications
- Prepare and deliver product presentations
- Other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in sales or customer service
- Requires a valid driver’s license
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Presentation skills
- Ability to influence and persuade others
- Enthusiastic, optimistic, persistent and resilient personality; able to handle rejection
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Strong computer skills:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook - Ability to negotiate conflict
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Solid work ethic, self-starter and high energy level
Monthly commissions in addition to the annual base salary pay range: $65,000
