Job Description

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a recognized leader of innovative equipment management services in Canada, helping hospitals and healthcare organizations improve how they manage medical equipment, service costs, operational risk, and long-term capital requirements.

The organization has built its reputation by delivering measurable financial and operational value to healthcare providers. As it continues to expand across Western Canada, it is hiring an accomplished business development professional who can create opportunities rather than wait for them.

This is a true hunter role. You will pursue complex, high-value opportunities with hospitals, health authorities, and integrated healthcare networks across Western and Northern Canada.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and execute a strategic business development plan focused on securing new hospital and health-system customers.
  • Prospect consistently through executive outreach, referrals, networking, industry events, and targeted account development.
  • Open doors within healthcare organizations where no immediate sales opportunity may exist and develop those relationships into qualified business.
  • Build credibility with CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Vice Presidents, procurement executives, biomedical engineering leaders, finance teams, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Identify operational, financial, equipment lifecycle, and service challenges and develop solutions aligned with customer priorities.
  • Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through discovery, business case development, proposal, negotiation, contract execution, and implementation.
  • Develop persuasive financial and operational business cases for senior leadership teams and other decision-making groups.
  • Expand existing relationships by identifying additional facilities, departments, equipment categories, and service requirements.
  • Represent the organization at healthcare conferences, executive forums, association meetings, and industry events.
Requirements

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Education & Training

  • University degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
Work Experience & Accomplishments
  • 7+ years of progressive healthcare sales or business development experience.
  • Proven success winning complex hospital or health-system business.
  • Demonstrated history of creating new opportunities and generating revenue rather than relying primarily on established accounts.
  • Experience selling medical device capital equipment, equipment service contracts, healthcare technology, managed services, or similarly complex solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and formal approval processes.
  • Knowledge of Western Canadian hospitals, health authorities, and healthcare networks is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian healthcare operations, hospital procurement, capital equipment management, and healthcare funding environments.
  • Genuine hunter mentality backed by disciplined prospecting habits, persistence, and measurable new business results.
  • Executive presence with the confidence to engage C-suite healthcare leaders on operational and financial priorities.
  • Strong strategic and consultative selling skills, including stakeholder mapping, account planning, value-based selling, and opportunity development.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to connect service solutions to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and business case development capabilities.
OTHER
  • Must reside in the Greater Calgary or Edmonton area and be prepared to travel a minimum of 40% of the time throughout Western Canada and the Northern Territories.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
WHAT THE COMPANY OFFERS
  • A sophisticated service offering that addresses significant hospital financial and operational challenges.
  • Considerable autonomy to develop your territory and pursue high-value opportunities.
  • Home-based work environment when not “on the road.”
  • Six-figure salary, uncapped commission plan, and HOOPP retirement package.
