Our client is a privately owned educational publisher specializing in the development and distribution of textbooks, digital learning resources, and customized curriculum solutions for higher education programs across the United States.
They are seeking a motivated Sales Representative to join their team immediately!
Compensation- $80,000-$100,000 OTE (Earned through $60,000 base salary + bonus opportunity)
We are seeking a driven, relationship-focused sales professional to join our client's higher education publishing team. In this consultative outside sales role, you will build partnerships with college faculty members and academic departments, helping them develop innovative course materials and educational resources for students.
This position combines business development, relationship management, and consultative selling. You will spend alternating weeks traveling throughout your assigned territory meeting with professors and visiting college campuses, followed by remote work focused on prospecting, follow-up, and account management.
The ideal candidate is confident, self-motivated, and passionate about building long-term professional relationships.
Responsibilities- Prospect and develop relationships with professors, instructors, and academic departments within an assigned territory
- Travel to colleges and universities for in-person meetings with faculty members
- Identify educators interested in creating customized course materials and educational content
- Consult with prospective authors to understand their teaching goals, curriculum needs, and objectives
- Present publishing solutions and guide faculty members through the partnership process
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective academic partners
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through signed publishing agreements
- Collaborate with internal editorial, production, and support teams to ensure a positive customer experience
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and territory development
- Bachelor's degree required
- Previous experience in consultative sales, business development, account management, or relationship-based sales preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable with extensive travel and frequent visits to college campuses
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
