This is a REMOTE territory based position located in Southern Michigan and North Eastern Indiana
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Agronomy Account Manager is responsible for driving consultative sales of seed and crop protection products to corn and soybean producers, managing an assigned geographic territory, and delivering field-level agronomic support to row-crop producers. This is a high-autonomy, farmer-first role combining agronomic expertise with a strong commercial focus to grow the company's book of business season over season. This position operates fully remote from a home office.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for prospecting potential sub dealers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building trust and delivering a consistent, high-quality experience throughout the sales and agronomic support cycle.
- Build and manage a portfolio of corn and soybean grower accounts within the assigned territory, with a focus on retention and seed and crop protection wallet-share growth year over year.
- Conduct structured agronomic consultations — from hybrid selection and seed placement to crop protection program design — to position the right products at the right time.
- Prepare and present customized product and program proposals; negotiate pricing within established guidelines.
- Identify and convert prospective grower accounts through networking, referrals, and field presence.
Territory Management:
- Develop territory growth plans that identify key account opportunities, set measurable goals, and outline strategies to expand market share within the assigned geography.
- Own an assigned geography — plan routes and call cadences to maximize face time with high-priority accounts during critical agronomic windows.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of account activity, pipeline, and competitive intelligence in the CRM.
- Coordinate with internal operations to ensure on-time product delivery, accurate order fulfillment, and a seamless customer experience.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and input pricing within the territory and report trends to leadership.
- Manage territory expenses responsibly and operate within approved budget parameters.
- Field-Level Agronomic Support
- Make regular on-farm sales calls and deliver timely agronomic recommendations tailored to each grower's operation, cropping system, and production goals.
- Serve as a first-call resource for growers facing agronomic challenges, providing practical solutions backed by current university and industry research.
- Support post-harvest field evaluations to document product performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Stay current on product registrations, label requirements, application best practices, and crop science developments.
Qualifications:
Normally requires a Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business, or a closely related field, or the equivalent combination of education and practical farm industry experience, plus a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in agricultural sales, input retailing, or agronomic consulting.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive agricultural market.
