About the RoleWe are seeking a talented and innovative Senior Scientist I to join our Cleansing & Hygiene Application Domain Team at our Clark, New Jersey Research and Innovation facility. The function is responsible for developing formulations, novel formats, and product design prototypes that will give consumers a superior cleansing experience. In partnership with other domains such as Invention & Discovery and Product Development, you will test concepts and prototypes, conduct literature searches, perform IP landscaping, and contribute to strengthening the overall knowledge of the field.
ADay in the Life
- Translate consumer needs into technical problem statements and identify knowledge‑driven technologies to deliver consumer‑perceivable benefits for cleansing.
- Design and conduct experiments—individually and with a team—to validate hypotheses and performance targets; communicate results clearly in oral and written formats to scientific and non‑scientific audiences.
- Interact with various groups (Invention, Discovery, Development, Safety, Regulatory, Claims) to ensure new materials and composites meet broader priorities.
- Maintain an external focus on new technology developments; conduct literature searches and IP landscaping to explore the latest technologies creatively.
- Participate, lead, and generate new knowledge through discussions on scientific knowledge related to cleansing such as surfactants, thickeners, biological actives, new technologies, and formulations.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, or a related scientific/engineering discipline (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred). - Experience:
0–2 years (Ph.D.) or 3–5 years (BS/MS) of hands‑on formulation research, ideally in a personal care or cosmetic field; 1–3 years of cosmetic/personal care or related industry experience preferred. - Experience with material chemistry or physical chemistry in cosmetics/personal care/chemical industries is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in analyzing, reporting, and documenting information with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of consumer trends as they relate to the product category preferred.
- The ability to lift 25 lbs (11.3 kg) and to be onsite in the office/laboratory (required).

- Base salary range: $77,400 – $110,300 (actual compensation varies by factors such as location, experience, education, and skill level).
