Geology and Geological Engineering is seeking an undergraduate laboratory assistant to aid Geology faculty in identifying, cataloging, and returning numerous fossils loaned from other universities and museums.
Duties & Responsibilities- The laboratory assistant will sort through fossil loan paperwork and collections cabinets to match paperwork to loan specimens, then help discern the current, proper points of contact for arranging the returns.
- They will then help pack and return the fossils to their repository institutions.
- Photographing the specimens may also be required for inclusion in email contacts with the host institutions.
- The student must be organized, detail-oriented, patient, and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
- Strong communication skills, including through digital formats, would also be considered helpful.
- Must be pursuing a Geology or Geological Engineering undergraduate major or minor.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
