ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client is a leading consultancy known for delivering innovative environmental solutions across nationally significant infrastructure projects. With a reputation for biodiversity enhancements, collaboration, and award-winning performance, their ecology team has been consistently recognised for excellence. Due to ongoing project growth, they are seeking a contract Ecologist to support work across the London and South East region.

THE ECOLOGIST ROLE:

  • Plan, coordinate, and undertake a variety of ecological field surveys
  • Analyse and interpret data to inform design, planning, and mitigation strategies
  • Carry out Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) responsibilities on active sites
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Support projects applying Defra Biodiversity Metric and habitat condition assessments

ECOLOGIST ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Ecology or a related discipline
  • Strong protected species survey experience (competent to lead surveys)
  • Level 1 or Level 2 survey licence for bats (desirable)
  • Membership of CIEEM (client will cover costs)
  • Working knowledge of UK Habitat survey methodologies and Biodiversity Net Gain principles
  • Full UK/EEC driving licence
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
