The Center on Alcohol, Substance Use, and Addictions (CASAA) is a Category III research intensive center reporting to the Vice President for Research. It seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the Research Administration team and support pre- and post-award areas of research administration. The successful candidate will assist CASAA investigators and researchers and report to the Program Operations Director.
CASAA’s priority is to reduce suffering caused by substance use and addiction through high-quality prevention and treatment research.
- Preparation of proposals for external funding.
- Development of non-technical documents of proposals, including but not limited to budgets and budget justifications to meet UNM and sponsor guidelines.
- Maintenance of proposal record using UNM’s research administration software and sponsor portals.
- Assisting in reviewing funding announcements to address sponsor-required criteria.
- Preparation of award extensions and continuations following sponsor guidelines.
- Managing and updating required investigator and researcher sponsor documents such as bio sketches and other support.
- Developing department pre- and post-award procedures to streamline internal processes.
- Tracking all planned and pending grant and contract applications using tracking and project management tools.
- Serving as a liaison between the PI and the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP).
- Providing technical assistance in sponsor portals to investigators and researchers as needed.
- Employees working in patient care or clinical areas must comply with the university’s influenza vaccination requirement.
High school diploma or GED; at least 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s or advanced degree.
- Professional experience in research administration or sponsored programs administration either in a sponsoring or recipient organization.
- Ability to independently identify and utilize available resources to solve problems and find answers to questions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.
- Experience preparing federal grant submissions.
- Knowledgeable in multiyear grants with subawards.
- Ability to communicate professionally with faculty in an array of disciplines that use diverse methodological approaches.
