About Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC):
The Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) regulates the development and production of Colorado's natural resources, including oil and gas, geothermal energy, and carbon capture and storage. Its mission is to do so in a way that protects the environment, public health, safety, and welfare. The Orphaned Well Program (OWP) identifies, prioritizes, and addresses orphaned oil and gas wells, locations, and production facilities where there are no known responsible parties or where financial assurance instruments have been claimed.
Activities include plugging and abandoning wells, removing waste and equipment, investigating and remediating soil and groundwater impacts, installing safety equipment, and reclaiming well pads and access roads. The program provides timely tracking data to Local, State, and Federal agencies to demonstrate compliance with funding requirements.
In addition to offering meaningful work, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities within the State system.
