JUNIOR – INTERMEDIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
OAKRIDGE has an opening for a Junior to Intermediate Environmental Scientist in a field related to Environmental (Agrology, Biology, Geology, etc.) working in the upstream oil and gas industry.

This role will be responsible for working on remediation and reclamation projects in the oil and gas industry, producing professional reports, quality fieldwork, and general environmental consulting duties. This is a dynamic field position requiring the applicant to be located (or ability to relocate) within the Peace Region.

Required:

environmental related experience, diploma, or degree

0-4 years experience in the Oil and Gas Sector, preferably in BC and/or Alberta.

Registration or ability to register with the Professional Designation in their field.

ability to work independently on multi-disciplinary projects

ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

ability to work extended hours when required, as well as travel to and from remote jobsites (often requiring overnight stays in camps or hotels)

ability to carry a minimum of 50 lbs without assistance

a high level of personal responsibility and ethics

ability to direct and supervise others respectfully and efficiently

excellent verbal and written communication skills

Valid Canadian Driver’s License

Main Duties include but are not limited to:

spill response and containment

groundwater and soil sampling

onsite supervision of subcontractors (drillers, vac trucks, excavators, etc)

writing reports for submission to Government Bodies in Alberta and BC as well as private entities.

Required:

Degree or Diploma in an Environmental related field (i.e., Environmental Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Agrology, Forestry etc.) with 5-10 years progressive work experience.

5+ years experience in the Oil and Gas Sector, preferably in BC and/or Alberta.

Registration or ability to register with the Professional Designation in their field.

Ability to work independently on multi-disciplinary projects

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

A high level of personal responsibility and ethics

Ability to direct and supervise others respectfully and efficiently

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Valid Canadian Driver’s License

Responsibilities

Manage projects and junior staff

Ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner

Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and staff

Train and mentor junior staff

Develop business and marketing strategies to expand environmental services and relationships
