Position Summary
  • The Environmental Services Coordinator supports healthy housing operations by conducting environmental assessments, managing radon and indoor air quality (IAQ) testing, compiling compliance documentation, and coordinating with contractors to ensure safe living environments for program participants. This is a hands-on, field and office-based role focused on testing, data tracking, and administrative compliance rather than program management.
Job Duties
  • Conduct radon and indoor air quality (IAQ) testing and inspections following standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols.
  • Deploy, retrieve, and maintain radon and IAQ devices; log test results and maintain calibration records.
  • Prepare client-ready and audit-ready reports summarizing findings and recommended actions.
  • Assist in coordinating contractor visits, inspections, and remediation activities; maintain schedules and documentation.
  • Enter and maintain environmental and housing data in Casebook, SharePoint, and other systems.
  • Track and organize compliance documentation, including Tier 2 (T2) environmental records and HUD submissions.
  • Assist with drafting scopes of work, photo documentation, and project close-out materials.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures and logs for environmental services.
  • Communicate testing results to clients and partners in a clear, empathetic, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Support program activities by verifying data and compiling reports for grants and audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Understanding of environmental health principles (e.g., air quality, radon, lead safety).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple testing sites and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to explain findings clearly to clients.
  • Empathy and professionalism when interacting with residents and community partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and data management systems.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining communication with the team.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary coursework in public health, environmental science, construction management, or related field preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in environmental testing, housing services, or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., Radon Measurement Specialist, IAQ Testing Technician, EPA RRP).
  • Experience working with individuals and families with complex needs preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular fieldwork, home visits, and travel between sites. In-office work environment with remote work opportunities as directed.
  • Valid driver’s license, liability auto insurance, and ability to drive personal vehicle for work.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends (as needed).
  • Occasional lifting of office items no more than fifty (25) pounds.
