Your OpportunityStantec is currently recruiting for three part-time on‑call Archaeological Field Technician positions to work out of our Central Pennsylvania office on future projects throughout the country. The successful candidate should be located within normal commuting distance of our New Cumberland, Pennsylvania office. Stantec is also recruiting three part‑time on‑call Archaeological Field Technician positions near our Hampton, Virginia office for future projects throughout the country.

Key Responsibilities
- Survey transects up to fifteen miles in length on a daily basis
- Record and delineate archaeological sites
- Complete archaeological site forms, site sketches, profiles, logs, and other paperwork
- Excavate shovel test pits, test units, trenches, or other excavation as needed
- Identify and describe soil profiles, horizons, artifacts, and cultural features
- Organize, process, and inventory artifacts

Excellent written, oral, and computer skills.
- Exercise professional discretion and judgment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Periodic travel required, including international travel
- Work remotely in project locations away from home office for extended periods, with deployments possibly as close as three calendar days apart
- Possess a valid Real r’s license with clean record
- Drug screening required
- BA degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
- Completion of an archaeological field school or a minimum of one year of professional archaeological experience (no academic experience may fill this requirement)
- Experience in Mid-Atlantic archaeology preferred
- Experience in archaeological survey
- Experience completing archaeological forms and paperwork
- Experience identifying soil horizons, cultural features, and artifacts
- Experience in organizing and inventorying data
- Experience using ArcGIS Online and associated applications such as Survey 123 and Field Maps
- Stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear frequently
- Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- May be required to walk up to 15 miles a day in rough and uneven terrain and transport up to 35 pounds of gear
- Locations in CO, HI, MD & various CA, NJ areas – Min Salary $56,100.00 – Max Salary $81,300.00
