Mosaic is seeking a Manager, Forest Inventory to join our team in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Nanaimo is the preferred office location for this role; however, consideration will also be given to qualified candidates based in the Greater Vancouver area.
The RoleReporting to the Director, Timberlands & Optimization, the Manager, Forest Inventory provides leadership in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Mosaic's forest inventory, remote sensing, and growth and yield capabilities. This role ensures inventory information is credible, current, and decision‑ready to support strategic planning, valuation, carbon initiatives, and operational decision‑making across Mosaic's diverse land base. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Mosaic's forest inventory, growth and yield models, and analytical workflows;
- Integrating field measurements, LiDAR, imagery, and other data sources into a robust inventory framework that supports planning, valuation, carbon projects, and operational decision‑making;
- Overseeing inventory sampling programs, field measurement protocols, and QA/QC processes to ensure data integrity and analytical rigor;
- Collaborating with planning, GIS, operations, and external technical partners to support inventory‑related analyses, reporting, and strategic initiatives; and
- Leading and developing inventory staff and contract resources while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Undergraduate degree in Forestry, Forest Biometrics, Natural Resource Management, or a related field;
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF), eligible for registration with the Forest Professionals BC;
- 7 + years of progressive experience in forest inventory, forest biometrics, growth and yield, or resource analysis, including experience working with remotely sensed inventory products and field sampling programs;
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex inventory information into practical business recommendations; and
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead technical work, and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
