SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
Intermediate Geochemist / Géochimiste intermédiaire Responsibilities- Contribute to all project phases: proposal preparation, data collection, field work, laboratory management, data analysis, and reporting. Projects include mine closure planning, legacy site closure, construction support, and resource development (metal mining and oil sands).
- Plan and conduct geochemical/hydrogeologic and environmental fieldwork—including water, rock, soil, and seepage sampling—coordinating with field crews, drillers, and clients.
- Plan analytical programs and coordinate with commercial laboratories and research institutions to obtain analytical and experimental geochemistry data.
- Manage and analyze large amounts of water and solid chemistry data to geochemically characterize materials, develop source terms, and explain observations based on conceptual models of the geochemical and hydrogeologic setting.
- Develop conceptual geochemical models for tailings storage facilities, waste rock piles, underground workings, and pit lakes.
- Produce high-quality technical reports, memoranda, and presentations that communicate detailed geochemical findings clearly to a variety of audiences.
- Support project management activities, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
- University degree in geology, geochemistry, or environmental engineering.
- 3 to 7 years of consulting experience in geochemistry and water quality related to metal leaching potential and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD).
- Professional registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Strong skills in data handling and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Python or other scripting environments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. French is an asset but not required.
- High attention to detail, effective time- management skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork at mine sites, including remote locations across Canada and occasionally internationally.
Relocation may be necessary; remote work opportunities will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If not based in Vancouver, periodic travel to the Vancouver office will be required (flights and accommodation covered by SRK). Duration and frequency will be determined based on experience.

CompensationThe estimated base pay range for this position is $80,000 to $115,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
