Applied Scientist

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Applied Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Transportation space. This role will lead operational priorities where safety, quality, compliance, and execution discipline are central to success. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross‑functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a operationally complex logistics environment.

Location:

Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $169,000 – $252,000 annually

• Set technical direction and modeling roadmap for replenishment R&D
• Model and solve complex inventory optimization issues
• Drive R&D changes from research to product implementation
• Lead efforts in addressing new product challenges
• Mentor team members and raise technical standards
• Implement solutions to address inventory uncertainty and decay
• Push AI boundaries in both products and scientist workflows

• MS or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of industry experience for MS candidates; 4+ years for PhD candidates
• Proven capability in systems supporting large‑scale uncertain decision making
• Experience in inventory optimization, supply chain, or related fields preferred
• Strong communication skills for translating complex ideas into accessible language
• Proficiency in delivering high‑quality software with Python or similar tools
• Nice to Have:
