Wetland Scientist / Assistant Project Manager
Location:
Oakland, CA. This role supports a growing team at Rincon Consultants. Ideal candidates enjoy fieldwork, collaboration, and task management. Flexible work arrangements may include a mix of in‑office and remote work; preference is given to those residing within 50 miles of a Rincon office, especially Oakland, Monterey, or Sacramento.
- Prepare and oversee high‑quality deliverables such as Biological Resource Assessments (BRA), CEQA/NEPA biological sections, and jurisdictional delineations and permit applications.
- Conduct or manage fieldwork, including wetland delineations, special‑status species surveys (e.g., California tiger salamander), and CRAM assessments.
- Support permitting strategies and regulatory compliance for complex, multi‑agency projects, addressing the Clean Water Act, ESA, CESA, and Coastal Act.
- Lead or support small‑ to moderate‑size biological assessment and permitting projects.
- Uphold QA/QC processes and ensure technical excellence across all work products.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3–6+ years of experience in environmental consulting with progressive responsibility across technical work and project management.
- Demonstrated experience with wetland delineations, CRAM, habitat management, botanical and/or wildlife species surveys, and monitoring and assessing habitats for California tiger salamander.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client and agency interaction.
- Preferred experience in regulatory permitting and compliance, and biological resource assessments such as CEQA/NEPA.
The base salary range for this full‑time position is $72,500–$104,000, plus a generous benefits program.
