Position: Remote Science Communications for Pollinator Research

Overview

Make an impact while you learn. The Semester of Service Program offers students a volunteer project‑based opportunity to support real Federal missions, gaining hands‑on experience and career‑ready skills. This project evaluates insect pollinator status and vulnerability in the Southeast and U.S. Caribbean and provides actionable information to conservation practitioners.

Term and Work Details
  • 8–20 hours per week, part‑time.
  • Minimum 90 days aligned with the Fall 2026 term (August 15 – December 15).
  • Remote, 100 % off‑site.
Responsibilities
  • Collate and organize data from assessments and expert responses across species and geographic regions.
  • Distill findings into digestible formats and identify patterns or themes for stakeholder communication.
  • Create clear, engaging science‑communication products such as short written summaries, web content updates, infographics, and fact sheets.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national studying in the U.S. (international students with valid U.S. visas who maintain at least three years continuous residence in the U.S. are eligible).
  • Enrolled full‑time or part‑time (≥half‑time) in an accredited technical, vocational, junior college, college, or university (U.S. institutions only), with good academic standing.
  • Not graduating before December 1 2026.
  • Ability to volunteer 8–20 hours per week for at least 90 days.
  • Basic science‑communication or design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe suite) are helpful but not required.
  • Strong organizational and synthesis skills and ability to translate scientific information into clear, non‑technical language.
