Our client, a leading natural environment consultancy with over 30 years of experience, is seeking an experienced Ecological Consultant or Senior Ecological Consultant to join their growing team.
- Fully remote working for desk-based duties, including reporting and project management.
- Undertaking fieldwork and site visits across the West Midlands, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire regions.
- Managing and delivering ecological consultancy projects from initial survey through to reporting and mitigation.
- Undertaking UK Habitat Classification (UKHab) surveys and assessments.
- Completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using the Defra Biodiversity Metric.
- Undertaking baseline ecological surveys.
- Producing high-quality ecological reports and supporting documentation.
- Designing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures for planning and development projects.
- Managing project workloads, programmes and deadlines.
- Liaising directly with clients, colleagues and wider project teams.
- Supporting the wider ecology team and contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy.
Job Requirements
- Previous professional experience working within ecological consultancy.
- Competency undertaking UK Habitat Classification surveys and assessments.
- Experience completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using the Defra Biodiversity Metric.
- Strong ecological report-writing experience.
- Strong project management and workload management skills.
- Good understanding of ecology within the planning and development process.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork and site visits throughout the relevant region.
- Protected species survey licences would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Valid CSCS card would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Salary of £30,500 - £42,000, dependent on experience.
