Your new companyA well-established, fully remote ecological consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team. Operating across a wide geographic region, the team works on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from small private developments to large-scale infrastructure and housing schemes. Your new role
As a Senior Ecologist, you’ll take on a leadership role within the consultancy, supporting both clients and junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
Mentoring and managing junior ecologists
Leading ecological surveys and assessments (e.g., UKHab, protected species, EcIA)
Providing ecological advice across internal teams and to external clients
Managing projects and producing technical reports and ecological management plans
Liaising with stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice
What you'll need to succeed
Minimum 5 years’ experience in ecological consultancy
At least one protected species licence
Full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM – desirable)
Strong skills in habitat and protected species surveys (PEA, UKHab, BNG, bats, badger, water vole, etc.)Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Experience preparing fee proposals and risk assessments
Ability to manage and analyse ecological data
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
