Petroleum Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration and development team, primarily based in the Gauteng region, with a hybrid work arrangement. This role involves detailed analysis of geological data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects. You will be instrumental in regional and basin analysis, prospect generation, and contributing to the overall subsurface understanding of exploration acreage.

• Conduct detailed geological studies of sedimentary basins and prospect identification.
• Integrate and interpret seismic, well log, and core data for subsurface mapping.
• Develop geological models and assess hydrocarbon potential for new ventures.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on field development studies.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
• Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies.

• Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline, with a focus on petroleum geology.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in petroleum exploration and geoscience.
• Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Geo Graphix).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to present complex geological concepts clearly.
