About the Role
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Environmental Scientist specializing in water quality to join their team in Welkom. This role is crucial for monitoring, assessing, and improving the quality of local water resources, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable water management practices. You will conduct field sampling, laboratory analysis, and develop strategies to mitigate pollution and enhance water ecosystems.

- Conduct regular field sampling and monitoring of various water bodies, including rivers, dams, and groundwater sources.
- Perform chemical, physical, and biological analyses of water samples to assess quality and identify contaminants.
- Interpret monitoring data, prepare technical reports, and make recommendations for water quality improvement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with national and provincial environmental regulations and standards related to water management.
- Investigate sources of water pollution and develop mitigation and remediation plans.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups on water resource management initiatives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in environmental monitoring and water quality assessment.
- Proven experience with water sampling techniques, field instrumentation, and laboratory analysis protocols.
- Strong understanding of water chemistry, aquatic ecosystems, and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using relevant software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with external partners.
