Senior Environmental Scientist - Ecotoxicology

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Scientist with a specialization in Ecotoxicology to join their dedicated environmental research team, supporting operations near Richards Bay . This role focuses on assessing the potential environmental impacts of industrial activities and developing mitigation strategies to protect ecosystems. You will conduct complex risk assessments, design and manage field and laboratory studies, and contribute to regulatory compliance efforts.

This is a critical position for an expert who is passionate about environmental stewardship and applying scientific principles to safeguard ecological health in a sensitive coastal region, contributing to sustainable industrial practices.

• Conduct comprehensive ecotoxicological assessments of chemical substances and industrial effluents.
• Design, implement, and oversee field and laboratory studies to evaluate the effects of contaminants on aquatic and terrestrial organisms.
• Develop and apply environmental risk assessment models and frameworks.
• Interpret complex environmental data and prepare detailed scientific reports and regulatory submissions.
• Advise project teams and stakeholders on environmental compliance and best management practices.
• Stay current with relevant environmental legislation, guidelines, and scientific literature.

• PhD or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecotoxicology, Biology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in environmental consulting or research, with a focus on ecotoxicology.
• Proven experience in designing and conducting ecotoxicity testing according to international standards (e.g., OECD, EPA).
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Excellent data analysis, scientific writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently from a remote setting.
