Environmental Scientist

Our client is seeking a qualified Environmental Scientist to join their remote team, contributing to sustainable practices within their mining operations across various regions, including those near Upington . This role is vital for assessing environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. You will be instrumental in promoting responsible resource development and maintaining ecological balance. The position offers the flexibility of a fully remote role, allowing you to contribute expertise and insights without geographical constraints, working collaboratively with site operations and management teams to uphold environmental stewardship.

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for mining projects.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and monitoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with local and national environmental legislation and permits.
• Advise on best practices for waste management, water use, and biodiversity conservation.
• Investigate and report on environmental incidents and non-compliance issues.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into mine planning and operations.

• BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining sector .
• Solid understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes in South Africa .
• Experience with environmental modeling and risk assessment tools.
• Strong analytical and report writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
