Senior Exploration Geologist - Metals & Gold

Our client, a prominent junior exploration company with a strategic focus on discovering new base metal and gold deposits, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Exploration Geologist. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to critical exploration initiatives from anywhere. You will play a key role in the entire exploration lifecycle, from target generation and regional mapping to detailed drill program design and supervision.

The successful candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge of metallogeny, structural geology, and exploration techniques to identify and advance high-potential mineral prospects across various geological terrains. We are looking for a proactive, self-directed individual with a proven track record of successful exploration discovery and a passion for unlocking the Earth's mineral wealth. This role demands strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team of geoscientists and management.

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new exploration targets for base metals and gold using integrated geological, geophysical, and geochemical data.
• Conduct detailed geological mapping, structural analysis, and lithological logging of exploration areas.
• Design, implement, and manage exploration drilling programs (diamond, RC, Aircore), including core logging and sample selection.
• Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to build and refine geological models.
• Collaborate with geochemists and geophysicists to integrate multidisciplinary datasets for target definition.
• Prepare comprehensive exploration reports, technical summaries, and presentations for internal review and external stakeholders.
• Manage exploration budgets and timelines for assigned projects.
• Maintain excellent relationships with landowners, communities, and regulatory bodies.
• Stay abreast of the latest exploration technologies, methodologies, and industry trends.
• Mentor junior geologists and provide technical guidance to the exploration team.

• A Master's degree in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a strong focus on base metals and gold.
• Demonstrated success in discovering mineral deposits through exploration campaigns.
• Expertise in geological mapping, structural interpretation, and geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Vulcan).
• Proven experience in designing and supervising exploration drilling programs.
• Solid understanding of various deposit types, their geological controls, and associated exploration models.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote work environment.
• Familiarity with South African exploration regulations and reporting standards is a plus.
