Overview

The Armed Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) is a sworn law enforcement officer appointed by a court and authorized under state law to perform limited policing duties within a designated jurisdiction.

Work Shift: Rotating

• Authorized to carry a firearm and enforce laws within the scope of their commission.
• Protect people and property, conduct patrols, detain suspects, and respond to incidents.
• Write detailed reports and coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary.
• Actively monitor Concealed Weapons Detection System(s) at division entrances and inform visitors when prohibited.
• Secure weapons for the duration of a person’s visit for safekeeping.
• Operate under strict regulatory and training standards, including background checks, firearms qualifications, and legal knowledge.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Driver License – Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (VDMV) (Required)
• Special Conservators of the Peace (SCOP) – Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) (Required)
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) – International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) (Required)
• Private Security Services Registration/Armed – Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) (Required)

• Two years of security experience (Required)
