Operations Research Analyst (GS-1515-13)
At the Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS), we are the powerhouse behind the U.S. Air Force. From developing cutting‑edge technology to ensuring the well‑being of our Airmen, your work will have a global impact. The position is located at Robins AFB, Georgia.
Responsibilities- Support the 17 EWS unit in assessing electronic warfare and spectrum operations at the integrated level, including EW effects on the enemy, interference on friendly systems, and friendly signatures in the electromagnetic spectrum.
- Perform predictive support of plans, near‑real‑time operational support, and retroactive assessments to identify improvement areas.
- Mentor military analysts and collaborate with cross‑functional intelligence, rated, and engineering teams to develop assessment processes, training, and standard products.
- Research operational and intelligence data feeds from multiple areas of responsibility and develop pipelines and tools.
- Apply assessment methods during operations or exercises and develop assessment plans throughout the exercise lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the colocated 501 EWS for advanced technical modeling and simulation projects.
- Work in a mix of unclassified, secret, SCI, and SAP environments; travel to exercise/ops support as needed.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Eligibility for TS/SCI & SAP access (mandatory); current SSBI highly desired.
- Must sign a non‑disclosure agreement.
- Pass initial and periodic drug testing; subject to periodic polygraph testing if required.
- Meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements within 24 months; complete 80 hours of continuous learning within the designated timeframe.
- Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and related scientific concepts.
- Knowledge of agency, AF, DoD doctrine, regulations, policies, and initiatives related to assigned programs or projects.
- Knowledge of security procedures for controlling classified material.
- Analytical and evaluative skills to investigate complex issues and adapt practices.
- Strong judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and foresight regarding changing technology.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer/electronics engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field; master’s degree highly desired.
- Operational assessment experience, especially joint EW or non‑kinetics, and systems/effects mindset.
- Comfortable building new methods for ingesting structured & unstructured data; working in small cross‑AFSC teams; briefing leadership and acting as unit's sole representative to external organizations.
- Salary: $106,437 – $138,370
- Permanent position, no telework or remote work.
- Travel up to 25%.
