Job Description

As a Corporate Security Officer at Wellmark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of company assets, facilities, and personnel. In this position, you will lead security operations through conducting advanced patrols, actively monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents with a high degree of independence, judgment, and decisiveness. Serving as a strong and highly visible presence on‑site, you will help deter potential threats while fostering a secure environment for employees, visitors, and stakeholders.

You will also take ownership of assessing risk, identifying vulnerabilities, and supporting complex incident and emergency response efforts. In this role you will collaborate closely with internal teams, guide less experienced security staff when needed, and partner with external emergency personnel to maintain operational readiness and uphold company security standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced patrols of the company premises to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems.
  • Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and threats, implementing defensive tactics when necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments and report potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
  • Provide security support for corporate events, meetings, and business–related initiatives.
  • Serve as intermediary with emergency response personnel in emergency/medical situations.
  • Secure premises and personnel, prevent losses and damage, report irregularities, and maintain detailed records of security activities and incidents.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct security training and awareness programs for employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The role is office‑based 100% of the time; occasional remote work may be permitted based on workload and manager approval.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Security Management or related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a security role preferably within a corporate environment or a related security/protective services role; or equivalent training or experience (e.g., military or law enforcement training and experience).
  • Demonstrated expertise in close protection, risk assessment, and emergency response.
  • H.R. 2018 (LEOSA) qualified or CCW required.
  • Conflict resolution skills, including the ability to de‑escalate situations and engage with offenders.
  • Familiarity with emergency medical protocols (e.g., TCCC/TECC), AED operation, and crisis response strategies.
  • Ability to think critically, applying logic and sound judgment in high‑pressure situations to assess threats and respond appropriately.
  • Strong knowledge of defensive tactics and security equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, especially when handling sensitive security information or incidents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a security team, supporting internal departments and interfacing with external emergency personnel as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of experience in a security role or related security/protective services role; or equivalent training or experience (e.g., military or law enforcement training and experience).
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification.
  • Military or law enforcement background.
  • Experience in corporate security or high‑profile executive protection.
