Security Officer - Armed

Overview

Sentara Health is hiring an Armed Security Officer for Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC.

Elizabeth City, NC.

Part‑time, 24 hours per week with a rotating schedule. Off every other weekend, Saturday to Sunday.

The Armed Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees at Sentara hospitals and standing emergency departments. All officers exercise discretion regarding weapon use, deploying the weapon only when all non‑violent options have been exhausted. The officer documents daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps to resolve incidents professionally and promptly.

They contribute to safety and security by:

• Ensuring compliance with Fit for Duty assessments.
• Participating in the required Psychological Evaluation and Assessment.

• 1 year of security experience.
• Preferred: former military, law enforcement, probation, or security officer.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire.
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer and Handle with Care Certification within 90 days of hire.
