Sentara Health is hiring an Armed Security Officer for Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC to work on an as needed basis!

Status:
Flexi/PRN position

Standard working hours:
Rotating work schedule (off every other weekend, Sat to Sun). Need to be flexibility due to hospital hours 24/7, 365 days a year.

The Armed Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments. All Sentara Armed Security Officers possess the ability to exercise discretion regarding the use of their weapons, only utilizing their weapon in times of extreme attack when ALL non-violent options have been exhausted.for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.

To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members:

Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness

Officer must pass the Psychological Evaluation and Assessment conducted by the Sentara selected Service Provider

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Certification/Licensure Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record

Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire Certified Healthcare Security Officer and Handle with Care Certification required within 90 days of hire

Experience:

1 year Security experience

Former military, law enforcement, probation, or security officer experience (Preferred).Benefits:

Our 182-bed facility features 25 specialties including emergency, maternity, orthopedics, medical, and surgical care in addition to our outpatient laboratory, imaging, and comprehensive breast services. In 2022, Sentara broke ground on a new campus, a state-of-the-art 88-bed hospital to replace the current 60-year-old facility on North Road Street. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus.

It is projected to cost about $200 million, up from the original estimate of $158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
