Senior Security Engineer; Product

Headway builds a new mental health care system that is accessible to everyone. We serve over 75,000 providers and 1 million patients with our software, helping therapists accept insurance and scale their practice.

The Security team focuses on security and privacy for Headway’s customers—therapists, patients, and payers such as insurance companies and health systems. As an early member, you will build and lead our in‑house product and application security engineering efforts to ensure our platform remains secure and trustworthy.

• Partner with Product and Engineering: work on new product launches to implement features securely, including participation in implementation efforts, security reviews, design decisions, and vulnerability audits.
• Build Agentic Security Tooling: develop AI‑native product security tools that address code problems at scale across our growing codebase.
• Make the safe way the easy way: define and build application guardrails so developers can build securely by default and foster a culture of secure development.
• Assist in ongoing security operations: help with incident response, vulnerability management, penetration testing, security reviews, and other operational tasks to maintain a world‑class security program.

• 5+ years of experience in security or software engineering with a proven record as a security generalist.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Deep technical knowledge of building secure platforms and performing security design and code reviews.

• Ability to tackle ambiguous problems in a fast‑paced environment.

Base salary range: $218,500 - $273,125, based on qualifications, experience, and location. Eligible for equity grants depending on level.
