Job Overview

The Specialist provides a visible presence at store entrances/exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The Specialist makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a prominent, courteous and friendly manner deterring opportunity for theft by demonstrating "Command" presence in a company issued vest/required black attire. Must embrace Company values and have a mentality to protect the Ross treasure.

This position will support the Area Loss Prevention Manager by working at assigned stores within the market as prioritized by the ALPM.

• Maintain a safe & secure environment: understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything you do and assist store leadership.
• Provide visible "Command" presence including prominent greetings at store entrances/exits and on sales floor in company issued vest, monitoring for potential safety issues.
• Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
• Develop great teams & partnerships: provide great customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, answering questions, treat all customers and associates respectfully, demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, professionalism at all times.
• Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
• Involve regular with internal and external partners (conference calls, scheduled district meetings, educating associates, providing recognition).
• Other duties as assigned to support loss prevention initiatives.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times, maintain professional appearance per dress code.
• Mitigate theft & fraud: monitor entrances/exits and sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior, gather theft indicators and use internal or external intelligence to impact shortage trends, effectively communicate to store leadership and loss prevention leadership, adhere to company policy for external theft response and execute all company best practices.
• Minimize operational shortage: increase store awareness on effective processes to minimize operational shortage, train and educate associates on shortage reduction initiatives, observe and validate proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

• High School education or equivalent required, AA degree preferred.
• Highly driven and capable of achieving results with limited oversight.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
• Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions (background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting and/or drug and alcohol testing).
• One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
• One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
• Active security guard license preferred.

• Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
• Must be able to raise or lower objects >25 lbs. from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
• Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration vary).
• Must be able to travel. Will require frequent driving.
• This role requires regular in-office presence and may combine in-office and remote work.
