Job Title: Family Preservation Social Worker

Location: Hybrid / Remote – Fairview

Service Area: Presque Isle, Alpena, Alcona, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Roscommon and Montmorency counties

Reports To: Family Preservation Supervisor – Fairview

Position Type: Full-Time | Salary

Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Social Worker to join our Families First Program in Fairview. In this role, you will work directly with families to build stability, strengthen parenting skills and help children remain safely in their homes.

• Provide services aligned with the Families First model using a strength-based, non-deficit approach.
• Assist families with concrete services including housing support, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance and repair.
• Deliver skill-building interventions related to parenting, communication, self-advocacy and self-sufficiency.
• Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention for families experiencing acute challenges.
• Coordinate referrals and services with community partners including counseling providers, medical services, schools, housing resources and utility assistance programs.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation including service plans, progress notes, termination summaries, goal sheets and weekly reports.
• Present cases at termination conferences and recommend appropriate follow-up services.
• Maintain required face-to-face contact with families based on contract requirements and individual family needs.
• Maintain weekly communication with referring workers and complete follow-up evaluations at three- and six-month intervals post-service.
• Transport clients as needed using a personal vehicle.

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field (required).
• Experience working with children and families preferred.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license, vehicle registration and auto insurance required.
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable, compassionate and committed to high-quality, family-centered services.

• Full-time schedule with flexible hours and 24-hour availability as needed.
• Hybrid / remote position with home-based work and regular travel throughout the service area.
• Pay rate: $43,000 per year, based on experience.
