Community Health
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), operating in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities to help people survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities.
A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions of people.
Intensive services interns will assist IRC’s intensive case management (ICM) team, extended case management (ECM) team, and services for older refugees program (SOR) with daily activities that support the long‑term integration of refugees, asylees and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The ICM and SOR intern will support case management for single‑headed refugee households; survivors of domestic violence; older refugees;
youth and young adults without parents or permanent guardians; refugees experiencing mental health or psychological difficulties; and refugees with physical disabilities or medical conditions. Interns will work closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service plans that meet individual client needs and preferences utilizing a broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.
The extended services intern will support vulnerable clients for a period of twelve months, with a particular focus on medically vulnerable clients. The intern will work with the extended services department to connect at‑risk clients to the healthcare, education, and psychosocial resources that support their individual goals.
