The Senior Child Welfare Case Manager – Specialized is responsible for work requiring advanced knowledge in social work or human behavioral studies. The role uses such knowledge and prior experience to exercise discretion and independent judgment in providing appropriate services and support to families (1) in the Dependency Court system identified by the Court as needing professional services to prevent future abuse and/or neglect of children, (2) who voluntarily request similar in-home services, and (3) who request young adult services.
The goal is to take appropriate actions to ensure every child has a permanent home that provides physical and emotional safety.
- Provide advanced social work support to families within the Dependency Court system and in-home service settings as needed.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment to determine the most appropriate services and supports for each family.
- Coordinate efforts to secure permanent homes for children and ensure physical and emotional safety.
- Engage with partners and stakeholders to support child welfare outcomes and family stability.
- A high school diploma or GED and four years of full-time social work or human services experience; or an associate degree or 60+ credit hours with two (2) years of professional work experience; or two (2) years of full-time social work or human services experience; or a bachelor’s degree for those without relevant professional experience.
- Examples of professional experience may include roles such as Guardian Ad Litem, Family Support Worker, Group Home Worker, Teacher's Assistant/Aide, Daycare Provider/Worker, Therapeutic Assistant, Behavioral Health Technician, Family Intervention Specialist, Home Health Aide, Nurse (LPN/RN), Nursing Facility Assistant, EMT, or other roles assessing factors contributing to trauma or protective capacities with children and families.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience.
- Must be Certified as a Child Welfare Case Manager (CWCM) or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be insurable under the corporate policy.
