Job Summary:
The Research Support Assistant is responsible for assisting with the BRIDGE research project conducted by the Institute of Behavioral Research. This is a temporary, part-time position (10-20 hours/week). Successful applicants must reside in or near the following Wisconsin communities (Marathon, Sauk, Dane, Door, Dunn, Douglas), as the position requires local, in-person data collection and community engagement activities.
Duties &Essential Job Functions:
- 1. Conducts data collection activities, including: administering structured client interviews, conducting follow-up interviews per study protocols, communicating with research participants and community partners, and supporting recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.
- 2. Participates in community-based research activities, including: attending and documenting local needs assessments with local first responders and providers, participating in community listening sessions, and engaging with local stakeholders and partner organizations.
- 3. Manages and maintains research data, including: entering and verifying data in research databases, scoring instruments and interview responses, and maintaining research logs and documentation in accordance with data security and confidentiality protocols.
- 4. Supports project implementation, including: preparing materials for interviews, meetings, and community events; assisting with coordination of local research activities; and providing administrative support related to study operations.
- 5. Communicates regularly with project staff, including: maintaining consistent communication with TCU I research staff, coordinating with local agencies and partners, and ensuring adherence to study protocols and participant confidentiality requirements.
- 6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1 plus year of experience with customers, patients, or clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining communication with a remote research team.
- Skill with Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Ability to use strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially for conducting interviews and engaging with community members.
- Ability to use organization and administrative skills that will permit effective and efficient work in an office setting.
- Ability to follow structured research protocols and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-site research team.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, lifting/moving items up to 10 lbs. and times of prolonged sitting.
- Combination of field-based (community) and remote/office work.
- Regular travel within the local community required.
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends for community events. There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
- The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
