Tree of Life Family Services seeks a Lead TDT Counselor to oversee the daily operations of the Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) program in a school setting. The role focuses on supervision, staff support, documentation compliance, and quality assurance.
The Lead TDT Counselor will work closely with TDT counselors to provide guidance, ensure quality service delivery, and support overall program success. Responsibilities also include conducting quality assurance calls with families, supporting audit readiness and program compliance, and maintaining professional communication with school personnel and treatment team members.
This position offers flexibility; however, candidates must be available to work during school hours, typically between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required;
Master’s preferred - Must meet QMHP status per Virginia regulations
- Residents in Counseling encouraged to apply
- Experience working with children and adolescents in school settings
- Experience in the mental health field required
- Experience with clinical documentation, including progress notes and related documentation
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to support and guide a team
- Knowledge of TDT services, DMAS, DBHDS, and Medicaid documentation standards preferred
- Must successfully complete background and central registry checks
- Program Oversight and Staff Support
- Supervise and support TDT counselors in the school setting
- Provide ongoing guidance related to service delivery and behavioral interventions
- Conduct regular check‑ins with counselors to support daily operations
- Promote accountability and consistency in service delivery across the team
- Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Review documentation including Pre‑ISPs, ISPs, SRAs, progress notes, and addendums
- Ensure documentation meets DMAS and DBHDS requirements and reflects medical necessity
- Conduct TDT assessments as needed to support service initiation and program readiness
- Monitor due dates and support timely completion of required documentation
- Maintain internal tracking systems for compliance
- Support audit readiness and assist with internal chart reviews as needed
- School‑Based and Family Support
- Attend school sites as needed to support counselors and observe services
- Conduct quality assurance calls with families
- Support coordination between counselors, families, and school staff
- Conduct school presentations as needed with school staff and social workers
- Training and Development
- Support onboarding and training of new counselors
- Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to support staff performance
- W‑2 hourly position
- $30.00 per hour for Residents in Counseling
- $25.00 to $28.00 per hour for QMHPs and experienced TDT counselors, based on experience
- Full time: up to 40 hours per week
- Work hours must fall within school schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Hybrid role: combination of remote administrative work and in‑school or office support
- Position continues through the summer; availability during summer months required based on program needs
Hybrid remote in Loudoun County, VA. In‑person work may be required at school sites within Loudoun County.
