The Youth Center Rights Coordinator ensures that youth rights are upheld, complies with nondiscrimination policies, manages grievances related to discrimination, and provides training to staff on youth rights. The role supports administration with reporting and fosters an inclusive work environment based on DYS policies.

• Review videos and investigate physical response, abuse allegations, and youth grievances; log grievances and submit monthly data to Administration.
• Deliver Youth Center training on PREA, Youth Rights, and other relevant topics.
• Collaborate with the Youth Center PREA Compliance Manager for internal investigations.
• Serve as Youth Center Volunteer Coordinator and ensure compliance with Volunteer Policy.
• Facilitate monthly student council meetings, record notes, and report outcomes.
• Coordinate restorative processes for youth and staff following investigations or allegations.
• Participate in Critical Response Team activities for LGBTQIA2S+ youth.
• Assist with data collection for CPO requests and maintain confidentiality regarding HIPAA and other state policies.
• Ensure compliance with DYS policies related to youth rights, minors and major rule violations, and restorative community justice.
• Oversee accurate documentation of all daily Youth Center operations and support documentation of incidents and health monitoring as required by DYS Policy.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to youth services.

• College education in a behavioral health, juvenile justice, or related field.
• Experience working with adjudicated or detained youth or in a secure residential or behavioral health setting.
• Experience working with adolescents with trauma.
• Experience in mentoring or coaching youth.
• Experience in verbal de‑escalation and motivational techniques.
• Relevant years of state service experience.

• Minimum age 21; no felony convictions or domestic violence history.
• State of Colorado residency required at the time of application and throughout employment.
• Valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license required.
