Position Overview
County Caseworkers at Bedford-Somerset DBHS establish rapport and professional relationships with consumers of all ages and their families. They advocate for each consumer, monitor service delivery, link individuals to services, develop social supports, and encourage self‑determination.
Key Responsibilities- Service Monitoring
:
Monitor, link, and evaluate services; make referrals as needed. - Direct Contact
:
Provide regular individual contact and face‑to‑face case management services while meeting productivity standards. - Plan Development
:
Schedule and facilitate meetings to develop an individualized service plan with the consumer and/or family. - Information Management
:
Enter and maintain information in computerized databases, state systems, and charts in accordance with regulations. - Crisis Support
:
Offer crisis intervention services and coordinate assistance as needed. - Collaboration
:
Work with agency staff, providers, and community resources to support individuals. - Transportation Support
:
Link individuals to transportation services or transport them to appointments as needed.
Full‑time employment. Standard hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. Staff may occasionally work outside these hours to meet project or emergency needs. Telework is available after a 3‑month probationary period; full remote work is possible after 6 months.
Required Experience, Training & EligibilityMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years as a County Social Services Aide 3 plus 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences.
- A bachelor’s degree with or supplemented by 12 relevant college credits.
- Equivalent combination of experience and training, including 12 relevant college credits and one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case management position.
- Applicants may be considered eligible if within two months of completing the qualifying degree or credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Applicants must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the Child Protective Services Law and the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Conditional offers require satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
