The pay range for this position is $22.00-$22.50 per hour for employees hired in the Central Valley, CA. This represents the typical starting range. Higher salaries may apply for Southern California or Bay Area due to cost of living and market data. Terms for starting salary include education, experience, knowledge, skills, ability, market data, and internal comparison.
A Child and Family Counselor in Bakersfield, California, travels to client homes to coach and guide at-risk youth to strengthen their foundation. By building a positive caring relationship, creates a safe space for clients to share and seek guidance. Documents and shares status and experiences with team members, such as social workers, parent partners, program managers, clinicians.
Whether meeting individually or in a family setting, builds trusting relationship. Flexible schedule allows meeting with 4-7 clients at optimal times. Impact includes improving anger management skills, self-esteem, social skills, social connections, impulse control to maintain placement, avoid hospitalization or juvenile justice involvement, and strengthen resilience, relationships, family connectedness.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field.
- Experience working in a mental health capacity with children and families preferred, but not required.
- Meets all agency, funder, and regulatory employment requirements.
