Job DescriptionThe Second Judicial District seeks to fill a full time Treatment Courts Coordinator position. This position will serve as coordinator for two of the four treatment courts in the Second Judicial District. The four treatment courts in the Second Judicial District are:
Mental Health Court, DWI Court, Veterans’ Treatment Court, Adult Substance Abuse Court.
This position involves extensive planning and organizing. The role works collaboratively with judges and justice partners on a wide range of organizational issues such as operational efficiency, compliance with best practice standards, and internal and external quality assurance. The position may support statewide and county work groups. In addition to being an expert on treatment court best practices, efficiency, and effective operations on a system-wide basis, the role ensures that staff is properly trained and operates efficiently and effectively.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Treatment Courts Supervisor, Behavioral Health Unit Administrative Manager, Civil & Behavioral Health Division Administrator, District Court Administrator, and judges following Minnesota statutes, court rules, and policies.
Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with a mix of remote and in-person work at the Ramsey County Courthouse in St. Paul, Minnesota, as business need requires. A reliable internet connection is required for remote work.
Responsibilities- Serve on and coordinate treatment court teams.
- Plan, implement, administer, and monitor the daily activities of assigned treatment courts.
- Attend and facilitate case staffing meetings, court hearings, and various team meetings.
- Consult with treatment court judges and supervisors on a wide range of organizational and managerial issues, including quality assurance and compliance with recognized best practice standards.
- Collaborate with justice partners to coordinate programs for participants.
- Coordinate expenditures for assigned courts.
- Apply for grants, complete and submit quarterly grant reports to various funders.
- Maintain databases on treatment court referrals and participants.
- Ensure that all procurement and grant policies, best practice standards, and other relevant policies are followed.
- Provide coverage for other Treatment Court Coordinators and their assigned courts, as needed.
- Organize and coordinate training for treatment providers and team members.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with team members including judges, treatment agencies, community organizations, attorneys’ offices, community corrections, social services, the Department of Public Safety, and other justice partners.
- Attend and participate in conferences, meetings, and committees as a 2nd District treatment court representative.
- Facilitate community presentations, offsite events, coordinate community service, promote team integrity, develop community resources.
- Assist in docket development and facilitate case scheduling and case flow.
- Prepare reports to court, state and county agencies.
- Participate in maintaining an accounting and auditing system with respect to grant funds and incentives.
- Administer evaluations, review client files, and conduct initial screenings to identify participant eligibility for treatment court.
- Collect and maintain relevant data including inputting into spreadsheets and case management systems.
- Perform additional duties such as strategic action planning for treatment court improvement, monitoring meeting goals, objectives, and timelines, and providing monitoring and contractual service quality assurance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or related field OR any combination of training and work experience within the court system, legal or criminal justice field which indicates possession of the knowledge, abilities, and skills needed to successfully fulfill the duties of this position.
