Responsibilities- Interact with pretrial defendants, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, the county jail, local law enforcement, the private bar, and the public.
- Research criminal case histories, conduct pretrial risk assessments, prepare reports, and meet with defendants.
- Make recommendations to judges regarding conditions of pretrial release for defendants and staff first‑appearance/central‑judicial processing hearings and pretrial detention hearings.
- Monitor conditions of pretrial release for defendants, assist them in attaining specific goals to ensure their appearance in court, and report non‑compliance with conditions of release to the court.
- Provide guidance to clients with specific needs, including social, emotional and rehabilitative concerns, and recommend or refer for social services, testing, treatment and/or counseling.
- Monitor clients’ treatment progress.
- Work a non‑traditional work week, which may include weekends, holidays and after‑hours on‑call responsibilities.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least one year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing and verifying case‑related information, including investigations, monitoring case flow, interviewing clients, and preparing investigative reports.
- Preference for experience with pretrial services programs.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
The salary range for this position is $52,593.71 to $86,166.03 for Schedule A, and $52,593.71 to $81,857.73 for Schedule
B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.
The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule; this position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Participation requires installation of a multifactor authentication app on a mobile device and high‑speed home internet access.
Physical AbilityApplicants must be able to climb, stand, stretch, bend and reach as required. The position may require frequently lifting and carrying supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Driver’s LicenseA valid New Jersey driver’s license is required only if operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties.
Authorization to WorkApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States. U.S. citizenship is not required.

Residency LawAccording to N.J.S.A. 52:14‑7, newly hired employees must establish and maintain a principal residence in New Jersey within one year of hire. Exemptions may be requested on the basis of hardship or critical need.
