Job Type: Part Time

• Provide direct safety and security supervision of adjudicated and pre‑adjudicated youth in a secure setting.
• Monitor and enforce behavioral management plans, including contracts and growth plans.
• Conduct crisis interventions, de‑escalation, use of physical restraint, and incident debriefing.
• Support youth center programming, actively teach and redirect youth, and assist with group activities.
• Document observations, program activities, and unit records in required log and database systems.
• Demonstrate organizational accountability by upholding DYS core values and policies.
• Complete required training and maintain proficiency in behavior management and crisis response.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Shift work including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required. Shift differential percentages apply.

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Minimum age 21 years.
• No felony convictions or history of domestic violence.
• Valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license.
• Ability to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
• Experience with adjudicated or detained youth in a secure facility is preferred.
• College education in behavioral health, juvenile justice, or related field preferred.
• Experience facilitating psycho‑educational groups and working with adolescents with trauma.
• Experience with mentoring and coaching youth in positive leadership roles.
• Verbal de‑escalation skills.
• State background investigations for CBI, FBI, and sexual risk screening.

• College education in a behavioral health or juvenile justice-related field.
• Experience working with adjudicated or detained youth in secure or behavioral health settings.
• Experience facilitating psycho‑educational groups.
• Experience with adolescents with trauma.
• Experience mentoring and coaching youth.
• Verbal de‑escalation and motivational techniques.
• Relevant years of state service experience.

• Self‑control and composure under stress.
• Clear verbal communication.
• Ability to identify and report security breaches.
• Excellent written communication and event documentation.
