The Safety & Wellness Specialist collaborates with Humanitarian Reception coordinators and Safety & Wellness casework staff to assess client needs, support outreach efforts, and connect individuals to community-based resources across the Phoenix office.
Responsibilities- Support enrollment for clients based on arrival patterns.
- Maintain case files and enter program data.
- Provide client support in coordination with the VOCA team.
- Identify participants, coordinate outreach, conduct surveys and interviews, and manage participant care as part of the DEPTH Research Project.
- Provide direct support and services to participants.
- Deliver trauma‑informed, client‑centered services to Safety & Wellness clients.
- Assess needs, connect clients to services, and develop referral plans aligned with program eligibility.
- Provide light‑touch case support, including assessments, crisis support, and referrals for additional resources.
- Participate in meetings, staff development, and team activities.
- Follow all IRC policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education
:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Social Work, Human Services or similar field strongly preferred; comparable related work experience may be substituted. - Work Experience
: 2+ years of related work experience, including at least 1 year with asylum seekers, victims of crime or other vulnerable populations. - Aspiration and Knowledge
:
In-depth knowledge of asylum issues, trends, laws, and regulations and understanding of victim perspective and needs. - Case Management
:
Experience in case management and/or victim assistance preferred. - Training & Outreach
:
Experience conducting training and outreach to diverse audiences. - Skills & Competencies
:- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills.
- Self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to multi‑task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills; strong organizational and detail‑oriented abilities.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Public speaking and/or presentation experience preferred.
- Good communication and teamwork in cross‑cultural, multidisciplinary environments.
- Computer literacy with database experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a flexible team player.
- Language Skills
:
Fluency in written and spoken English; bilingual ability preferred in Spanish, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French or other relevant refugee/immigrant languages used in Arizona. - Certificates or Licenses
:
Valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, reliable transportation, and eligibility to receive a fingerprint clearance card.
The role combines standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. It may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Ability to lift 35–50 pounds is required.
CompensationPay Range: $23.50 per hour. Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates and are based on factors such as labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location and candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
